Tadej Pogačar leads Slovenia fundraising Pogi Challenge after Tour win
Tadej Pogačar secured a record‑equalling fifth Tour de France title in 2026. He then hosted a three‑day charity event, the “Pogi Challenge”, in his hometown of Komenda, Slovenia. The programme featured a post‑Tour criterium, a family day and a mountain climb up Krvavec, where more than 1,100 amateur cyclists took part. On the climb, German doctor Frederik Niessen finished about four minutes ahead, and seven other riders also beat Pogačar.
The event raised roughly €116,000 for reconstruction of Komenda after a June storm, with €95,000 contributed by an American who bought Pogačar’s torn Milan‑San Remo jersey. Pogačar thanked supporters, said recovery was his priority and announced he would reveal his decision on racing the Vuelta a España on 3 August, while also looking ahead to the World Championships in Canada.
