Tadej Pogacar extends Tour de Suisse lead with time‑trial win as Romain Grégoire takes Stage 2

Romain Grégoire claimed victory in Stage 2 of the 2026 Tour de Suisse, breaking away and holding off the favourites to the finish in Locarno. Mathias Vacek was the only rider able to follow Pogacar’s acceleration on the decisive climb, underscoring his growing strength in the mountains. Portugal’s Afonso Eulálio finished ninth on the day and sits 54th overall.

In Stage 4, an individual time trial of 23.7 km in Aarburg, Tadej Pogacar won by the slimmest margin—three hundredths of a second—over Mathieu van der Poel. Pogacar completed the course in 26 minutes 36.99 seconds, extending his overall lead. Tobias Foss took third place, with Vacek fourth, while Van der Poel’s effort was described as “agri‑sweet” after narrowly missing the win. The results reinforce Pogacar’s control of the general classification heading into the final mountain stage.
