Tadej Pogačar discharged from hospital after successful clavicle surgery

Slovenian cyclist Tadej Pogačar has been discharged from the Hospital Universitario Dexeus in Barcelona to begin home-based rehabilitation following successful surgery. The intervention, performed by specialist Dr. Xavier Mir, addressed a displaced fracture of his left clavicle.

Pogačar was forced to withdraw from the Vuelta a España after a severe crash during the eighth stage. In addition to the clavicle fracture, the athlete sustained a concussion and a stable fracture of the C7 vertebra.

His team, UAE Team Emirates, confirmed that the surgery went well and that the athlete is feeling very good. While his recovery process is the current priority, his participation in upcoming events, such as the World Championships in Montreal, remains uncertain. The team emphasized that the focus is currently on his personal well-being rather than a rapid return to competition.
