Tadej Pogačar celebrates fifth Tour de France win in Komenda
Slovenian rider Tadej Pogačar secured his fifth overall victory in the 2026 Tour de France, finishing the race in Paris. Škoda, the official Tour partner, supplied 225 electric cars and presented Pogačar with a specially designed crystal trophy. A few days later the champion returned to his hometown of Komenda, where a three‑day charitable event, the Pogi Challenge, was organised. The programme combined a criterium named after Pogačar, which he won, earning 22 points, with the “S klanca v klanec” climb. The atmosphere was described by Pogačar as even better than that on the legendary Alpe d’Huez. At the opening ceremony he received a monocycle from the Slovenian Cycling Federation and was escorted by Domen Prevc, who flew him by helicopter from the nearby Krvavec climb to the town. Pogačar also spoke about his legacy, saying he hopes to be remembered as a good athlete, a good person and a good soul. Several race organisers, including Vuelta a España director Javier Guillén, expressed interest in his participation in future events.
