Tadeo Jones franchise releases fourth film in Spain
The fourth installment of the Spanish animation franchise, ‘Tad and the Magic Lamp’, has been released in Spain. Directed by Enrique Gato, the film follows the archaeologist Tadeo Jones as he navigates a time-travel adventure involving the magic lamp from ‘One Thousand and One Nights’.
A significant narrative shift in this entry is the introduction of Tadeo and Sara as parents to their two-year-old daughter, Oli, which explores themes of family and maturity. The film also addresses contemporary issues by incorporating the topic of Artificial Intelligence, reflecting on how humans should shape AI to be a useful tool rather than a replacement.
Voice actor Carlos Latre, who provides voices for several characters including Jeff the dog and Belzoni the parrot, has expressed concerns regarding the rise of AI in the voice-acting community. Technical contributions to the film include 3D character modeling supervised by Mariano Tazzioli. The franchise, which began as a short film in 2004, remains one of Spain’s most successful animation properties.
