Tadeusz Byrt, longtime pastor in Wisła-Głębce, passes away

Tadeusz Byrt, a retired clergyman of the Evangelical-Augsburg Church in Poland, has passed away. He served for many years as the longtime pastor of the Evangelical-Augsburg Parish in Wisła-Głębce.

Byrt’s connection to Głębce began in 1981 as a theology student. Following his ordination in Szczecin in 1983, he helped establish regular services and a local choir in the area. A significant milestone in his career occurred in 1994 when the Wisła-Głębce parish gained independence, with Byrt serving as its first administrator before being elected pastor two years later.

Under his leadership, the parish underwent decades of development. After nearly 30 years of service to the Głębce community, he retired, passing the role to Oskar Wild in 2023. Beyond his pastoral duties, Byrt was involved in publishing and documenting the life of the Evangelical community in Wisła, serving as an editor for the quarterly publication ‘Luteranin’.
