Tadeusz Topczewski, former GDDKiA director, dies at 85

Tadeusz Topczewski, a prominent figure in Polish road administration, has passed away at the age of 85. He died on August 14, 2026.

A graduate of Warsaw University of Technology, Topczewski dedicated over 40 years to the road sector, serving 32 years in leadership roles. He notably served as the Director of the Białystok branch of the General Directorate for National Roads and Motorways (GDDKiA) from 2002 to 2007. Throughout his career, he was instrumental in planning major international routes in the Podlasie region, including the Via Baltica and Via Carpatia. He was a member of the Polish Road Congress and received the Knight's Cross of the Order of Polonia Restituta for his professional contributions.
