tado° launches second-generation Smart Thermostat X

tado° has unveiled the second generation of its Smart Thermostat X, featuring a significantly slimmer design at 17.8 mm thick. The new hardware includes a circular touch interface, a minimalist LED display, and a customizable physical button on top for quick functions like checking humidity or boosting heat.

Moving away from disposable batteries, the device now utilizes a rechargeable USB-C battery designed to last over a year on a single charge. The thermostat supports Matter and Thread protocols, ensuring compatibility with major smart home ecosystems including Apple Home, Google Home, and Amazon Alexa. It is compatible with boilers, heat pumps, and underfloor heating systems.

On the software side, tado° is introducing ‘AI Assist,’ a subscription-based service costing €3.99 per month or €29.99 per year. This service includes features such as geolocation, open-window detection, adaptive heating, and TÜV-certified hydronic balancing to optimize energy efficiency. The company also introduced a Multi Home feature, allowing users to manage multiple properties from a single account.
