Taesa completes Saíra Project ahead of schedule

Taesa has announced the energization of the Garabi 2 converter station, a key component of the Saíra Project. The project was completed approximately 20 months ahead of the March 2028 regulatory deadline set by the National Electric Energy Agency (ANEEL).

The Saíra Project involves a R$ 1.17 billion investment to retrofit high-voltage direct current (HVDC) transmission infrastructure in Rio Grande do Sul and Paraná. This modernization includes the installation of advanced digital platforms, such as MACH technology, and over 6,000 modular electronic boards to improve power flow control.

The project is strategically vital for the energy exchange between Brazil and Argentina, operating as the world’s largest back-to-back system. Following the energization, Taesa expects to add approximately R$ 24.2 million to its Annual Permitted Revenue (RAP) for the 2026-2027 cycle, bringing the Saíra concession's RAP to roughly R$ 195.9 million.
