TAG Airlines to relaunch Guatemala-Mérida flight route

TAG Airlines is relaunching the Guatemala-Mérida flight route to strengthen international connectivity and tourism exchange between Yucatán and Guatemala. The first season of operations is scheduled to run from November 3, 2026, to January 30, 2027.

The route will feature three weekly frequencies on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays, utilizing ATR 72-500 aircraft with a 72-passenger capacity. The service will link Mérida with Flores, Guatemala, facilitating travel between destinations such as Chichén Itzá and Tikal, as well as integrating various Maya World tourism circuits.

Darío Flota Ocampo, head of the Yucatán Secretariat of Tourism Promotion (Sefotur), stated that the reconnection is the result of coordinated efforts between the state government, TAG Airlines, airport authorities, and the hotel sector. This initiative follows commercial alliances established during the K’íiwik: Maya World Tourism Fair 2026. Data from Sefotur indicates that Guatemala is among the top five international visitor emitters to Yucatán within Latin America.
