Tagliacozzo commemorates 90 years of Don Gaetano Tantalo’s priesthood

The community of Tagliacozzo is holding celebrations on September 6 to mark the 90th anniversary of the appointment of Venerable Don Gaetano Tantalo as parish priest of San Pietro.

Don Gaetano, who was appointed in September 1936, is remembered for his actions during World War II, specifically for providing refuge to Jewish families to protect them from Nazi deportation. The commemorative events include a procession led by Monsignor Giovanni Massaro, Bishop of Marsi, and a solemn Eucharistic celebration at the San Pietro Church.

The day's activities will conclude with the inauguration of a hand-painted ceramic majolica piece in Largo Don Gaetano Tantalo, serving as a symbol of memory for his ministry and impact on the community.
