Tagliacozzo faces emergency response calls after severe flooding
Severe weather and heavy rainfall have struck Tagliacozzo, causing significant flooding and damage to public and private property, as well as local road networks.
In response to the emergency, Angelo Radica, president of the ALI Abruzzo association of municipalities, has called for urgent regional intervention. Radica emphasized that municipalities are often left to face such crises with limited funds and urged the Abruzzo Region to convene an institutional meeting to establish an extraordinary intervention plan with clear timelines and resources. He also suggested creating a dedicated fund for extreme weather prevention to better equip municipalities for future climate events.
Additionally, Antonio Di Marco, Vice President of the Regional Environment and Territory Commission, has formally requested an urgent extraordinary session of the commission. The goal is to hold hearings with the Mayor of Tagliacozzo and other relevant authorities to assess the full extent of the damage and identify necessary financial channels to restore safety and mobility to the area.
