Taha Çakmak resigns as head of Türkiye Sigorta

Taha Çakmak, the General Manager of Türkiye Sigorta and Türkiye Hayat Emeklilik, has resigned from his positions. The resignation follows a fund investigation in which Çakmak is considered a suspect.

In connection with the investigation, authorities have imposed a travel ban on Çakmak and a precautionary measure on his assets.

Çakmak has held several high-profile roles in the Turkish financial sector, including Deputy Chairman of the Banking Regulation and Supervision Agency (BDDK) from 2019 to 2021, and Deputy Governor of the Central Bank of the Republic of Turkey from 2021 to 2023. His previous experience includes various management and inspector roles at Ziraat Bank and the Social Security Institution.
