Tahir Saygıner issues warnings ahead of 2026 hunting season
Tahir Saygıner, President of the Hunting Federation, has issued critical warnings ahead of the 2026 hunting season. He announced that the Saint Hilarion region, specifically the area known as ‘Komando or Ciklos’, has been closed to hunting by a Council of Ministers decision.
Saygıner emphasized the importance of adhering to legal regulations, particularly regarding time restrictions. He reminded hunters that it is illegal to enter dirt roads before 04:00, a rule intended to ensure the safety of both hunters and the public. He also urged compliance with both written and unwritten hunting rules to promote sustainability and nature conservation.
Addressing the rising costs of hunting, Saygıner explained that license fees are indexed to the minimum wage under the 2020 Hunting and Wildlife Protection Law. Because fees are calculated as specific fractions of the minimum wage, costs have increased in tandem with wage hikes.
