Tahoe Joe’s steakhouse chain closes Visalia location, leaving only two stores
Tahoe Joe’s Famous Steakhouse, a California-based restaurant chain, has reduced its operations to just two remaining locations following the abrupt closure of its Visalia outpost. The closure was noted on the company’s website without a formal public announcement or farewell post.
The chain, which was founded in Fresno in 1995 by David Fansler, has experienced a significant decline. Following a period of ownership changes, the brand was purchased for $5.2 million at auction by BBQ Holdings after its previous owner, Fresh Acquisitions, filed for bankruptcy in 2021. BBQ Holdings was subsequently acquired by MTY Food Group in 2022.
Prior to the Visalia closure, other locations in Rocklin, Roseville, and San Luis Obispo had already shuttered. The two surviving Tahoe Joe’s restaurants are located in Fresno and Bakersfield.
