Tahoe region expects midweek rain and high-elevation snow
A midweek storm is expected to bring rain and potential high-elevation snow to the Tahoe and Eastern Sierra regions this Wednesday and Thursday. According to OpenSnow forecaster Bryan Allegrato, precipitation levels could range from a few tenths of an inch to as much as 1 inch by Thursday night.
Snowfall is expected to be restricted to higher elevations, generally above 8,000 to 9,000 feet, though snow levels may drop toward the end of the system. While most local communities are not expected to see snow, the National Weather Service advises drivers to prepare for winter travel by inspecting tires, windshield wipers, and batteries, and keeping chains on hand.
Looking ahead, weather models suggest a shift toward a more active pattern in late October and early November, with a potential for increased precipitation due to a prolonged trough along the West Coast.
