Tahsin Ertuğruloğlu calls for two-state solution at OIC meeting
During the 52nd Session of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Foreign Ministers Council held in Baghdad, Iraq, TRNC Foreign Minister Tahsin Ertuğruloğlu addressed member states regarding the Cyprus issue. He advocated for a two-state solution, stating, “the reality of Cyprus island is one island, two states.”
Ertuğruloğlu urged OIC members to take concrete steps to end what he described as unfair isolations and inhumane embargoes against the Turkish Cypriot people. He emphasized that the current negotiation model is exhausted and that the community does not wish to lose another 50 years pursuing it.
Addressing broader global issues, Ertuğruloğlu noted that civilians are paying the heaviest price for increasing geopolitical tensions and humanitarian crises. He called for increased dialogue and solidarity to resolve international conflicts through peaceful means.
