Taichung and Tottori deepen manga cooperation on alliance anniversary

Taichung City and Japan’s Tottori Prefecture have strengthened their cultural ties on the eighth anniversary of their alliance by focusing on manga industry cooperation. Koji Uchida, Chief of the Manga Kingdom Office of Tottori Prefecture, met with Taichung City Government officials to discuss talent cultivation and competition resources.

To support local creators, Taichung launched its inaugural Original Short Manga Competition, offering a gold prize of NT$100,000. The two regions reached a consensus to facilitate mutual promotion of future events and share resources to increase the international visibility of Taiwanese original stories.

As part of the exchange, officials visited the National Cartoon Museum to view the results of the Taichung competition. Tottori, known as the home of 'Detective Conan' and 'GeGeGe no Kitaro,' will provide expertise drawn from its experience hosting 15 international manga competitions.
