Taichung City hosts legal education event for new residents

The Taichung City Government, through its Legal Affairs Bureau and Government Ethics Department, partnered with local organizations to host the ‘New Residents Legal Life’ event in Dongshi. The initiative aimed to provide essential legal, anti-fraud, and civic education to Taiwan’s growing new resident population, which has surpassed 650,000 people.

Through case studies, situational simulations, and interactive Q&A sessions, the program addressed practical issues including marriage, property rights, family inheritance, labor laws, and residency status. To ensure accessibility, the event also included multi-language materials for anti-election bribery campaigns and fraud prevention to overcome potential language and information barriers.

The event, held at the Xu Liangyu Library, combined legal education with multicultural performances to foster community integration and social inclusion.
