Taichung City Wins First Five‑Star Food‑Education Rating in Taiwan

Taichung City was awarded the top “Five‑star City” honor in the 2026 Food Education City Survey conducted by FoodNEXT (食力). It ranked third nationwide, first among Taiwan’s six special municipalities, and marked the city’s first five‑star rating.

The evaluation highlighted Taichung’s strengths in four areas—agricultural environment, education and culture, health and nutrition, and food‑safety and hygiene. The city topped the nation in education & culture and retained the lead in food‑safety for three consecutive years. City officials cited extensive cross‑department collaboration, a city‑wide food‑traceability system, expanded organic and smart‑farm practices, the “Taichung Fresh” brand, and school food‑agri programs as key factors.

Councilor Wu Qiong‑hua, Mayor Lu Hsiu‑yan and Deputy Mayor Lai Shuhui praised the achievements and pledged to deepen food‑education, sustainable agriculture and consumer‑centred safety measures to further improve residents’ health.
