Taichung driver crashes into parking lot equipment, causing traffic gridlock

A 22-year-old female driver caused significant traffic disruption in the Fengjia commercial district of Taichung on Saturday night after crashing into license plate recognition equipment at a private parking lot.

The accident occurred around 8:22 PM on Baoqing Street. The driver reportedly misjudged her turning angle, causing the equipment pole to fall across the exit lane. Because the incident happened on a busy Saturday night, numerous vehicles were trapped both inside and outside the facility, leading to local congestion.

Police confirmed that the driver showed no signs of driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs. No injuries were reported, and the driver will handle compensation matters with the parking lot management.
