Taichung High Court upholds prison sentences for woman attacking lawyers

The Taichung High Court has upheld prison sentences for a woman, surnamed Lin, who repeatedly attacked and threatened female lawyers during a property dispute litigation. The incidents involved verbal abuse, physical assaults including hair-pulling and splashing unknown liquids, and death threats.

Lin attempted to appeal her initial sentences of 14 months and 12 months for injury and intimidation, claiming she had reflected on her actions and that the liquid used was non-toxic juice. However, the court rejected the appeal, noting that Lin exhibited contempt for the judiciary by shouting, “I will slap all the lawyers in the world,” during a recent court appearance.

The court ruled that Lin’s behavior not only harmed specific individuals but also threatened the professional safety of lawyers and challenged the integrity of the judicial system.
