Taichung Hosts National Elementary School Basketball Summer League (Aug 1‑7)

The 2026 National Elementary School Basketball Summer League will take place in Taichung from August 1 to August 7. Deputy Speaker of Taiwan’s Legislative Yuan Jiang Qichen attended the opening ceremony, urging the public to support the youth competition.

The league, now in its third consecutive year in Taichung, attracted a record 135 teams, including 52 local squads. Organisers attribute the growth to strong community interest and the continued involvement of the Republic of China National Elementary School Sports Association, led by chairman Chen Huan‑shiu. To broaden participation, a new club division for both boys and girls was added, increasing the event’s diversity and inclusiveness.

Jiang highlighted Taichung’s commitment to fostering grassroots sports and thanked sponsors and volunteers for their long‑term support, noting that the tournament provides a valuable platform for young athletes to experience competitive basketball.
