Taichung International Flower Carpet Festival to feature Sanrio theme

The 2026 Taichung International Flower Carpet Festival is scheduled to take place from October 31 to November 22 in the Xinshe District. Celebrating its 15th anniversary, this year’s event features a “Dessert Kingdom” theme in collaboration with Sanrio.

The festival will showcase seven themed zones featuring popular Sanrio characters such as Hello Kitty, My Melody, Kuromi, Cinnamoroll, Pompompurin, Pianano, and Hangyodon. The display includes over 110,000 flowers across 33 species, covering an area of more than 10,000 square meters. A central highlight is a 19-meter-tall dessert castle that functions as a musical box theater, incorporating mechanical movements, smoke, bubbles, and snow effects.

Visitors can also experience a first-of-its-kind indoor mirror flower carpet and outdoor viewing platforms. To enhance the visitor experience, the Taichung City Government Tourism Bureau has opened applications for wedding photography sessions and guided tours. Photography sessions are limited to five people per group and must be scheduled during early morning or late afternoon hours to capture specific lighting. Guided tours, limited to 10 people per group, are available through local bed and breakfast associations and tourism groups.
