Taichung junior high student targeted in cyberbullying incident

A junior high school student in Taichung City was reportedly subjected to cyberbullying by ten classmates. The victim was allegedly intimidated in an Instagram group and forced to film a humiliating video performing a 'dogeza' (kneeling apology) while holding a sign that read, “I am sorry, please forgive me.”

The victim's parents have filed a police report and requested that the Education Bureau investigate the incident. They expressed frustration with the school's response, claiming that the school was unable to identify the ten Instagram accounts involved within three days and failed to take proactive measures, such as transferring the student to a different class to prevent retaliation.

The school stated that due to privacy concerns, they cannot disclose specific details but are collecting evidence to handle the matter appropriately. They are also providing counseling to the student. The Taichung City Education Bureau has activated its campus incident handling mechanism to clarify the facts and guide students toward proper internet usage and legal awareness.
