Taichung launches funeral parlor reconstruction and opens cultural park
Taichung City is advancing major urban development and heritage projects. The city has commenced the reconstruction of the 57-year-old Chongde Funeral Parlor. With an investment of 4.2 billion TWD, the project aims to transform the facility into a modern, high-tech, and dignified space. The expansion will increase the number of ceremonial halls from 18 to 32 and add 60 independent mourning halls, significantly boosting service capacity for the city's growing population.
Simultaneously, the Taichung State Hall Cultural Park has officially opened following a decade of planning and over 600 million TWD in restoration costs. The historic building, designed by the same architect as the Presidential Office, has been restored using traditional methods to preserve its historical character. The site will now serve as a cultural and administrative hub, featuring art exhibition spaces and over 4,200 pings of green space for public use.
