Taichung mayoral candidates present urban development visions

Taichung mayoral candidates are presenting distinct visions for the city's development during their campaigns.

Democratic Progressive Party candidate Ho Hsin-chun visited the Shuinan Market to engage with vendors. She pledged to secure central government resources to improve the environment of traditional markets and transform foot traffic into business opportunities, noting the government's plan to increase investment in market infrastructure and digital integration starting next year.

Meanwhile, Legislative Yuan Vice President and mayoral candidate Johnny Chiang addressed the American Chamber of Commerce in Taichung in English. Chiang proposed a blueprint for an internationalized Taichung, focusing on industrial upgrading through AI and robotics, and strengthening city diplomacy through practical cooperation with global industrial hubs. His platform includes establishing three specialized committees—International Cooperation and Development, Smart City, and Child and Women Care—as well as accelerating MRT construction to improve regional connectivity and addressing youth housing through transit-oriented development.
