Taichung opens Shui Nan Transfer Center, creating a multi‑modal transport hub
Taichung Mayor Lu Hsiu‑yen inaugurated the Shui Nan Transfer Center on 5 August 2026. The facility combines parking, YouBike stations, city bus services and will later host 26 long‑distance bus routes and at least nine urban bus lines, linking taxis, private cars, motorcycles, bicycles and the future MRT to form a "seven‑to‑seven" interchange.
The centre, the second of four planned city‑wide hubs after Fengyuan, is part of a NT$4.6 billion project funded entirely by the municipal government. It includes 614 car spaces, 1,253 motorcycle spots, 604 bicycle racks, solar panels on the roof and equipment to treat vehicle emissions. The site is positioned to connect with the upcoming Taichung Station hub, the Wuri hub and future national‑highway and MRT links.
To celebrate the opening, the city offered free parking from 5 August to 4 September and a discounted rate thereafter. The ceremony featured a Snoopy‑themed pop‑up and other public‑space activities, underscoring the centre’s role as both a transport node and a community venue.
