Taichung police apprehend missing Vietnamese migrant worker

A 20-year-old Vietnamese migrant worker, identified by the surname Liang, was apprehended in Taichung after being missing for nearly six months. During a routine police inspection, Liang attempted to evade officers by sprinting away and climbing over a wall to hide.

Officers from the Taichung City Police Department's Third Precinct pursued the man into a dead end. A police intern spotted Liang hiding near a motorcycle, and after the suspect attempted to flee again, officers used pepper spray to subdue him.

Investigations revealed that Liang had moved from southern Taiwan to Taichung for personal reasons. He will be handed over to the National Immigration Agency's Taichung specialized team for scheduled deportation to Vietnam. Authorities have urged employers to follow legal hiring procedures and avoid employing undocumented workers to maintain social order and protect labor rights.
