Taichung police launch school safety initiatives for new semester

Police departments in Taichung have launched safety initiatives to protect students as the new school semester begins.

The Heping Police Precinct implemented a ‘Child Protection Project’ covering eight elementary schools, including Lishan Elementary and Junior High School. Officers were deployed to manage traffic, conduct patrols, and provide crime prevention education regarding drug awareness, fraud prevention, and child safety. Precinct Chief Lai Chun-yao visited schools to distribute stationery and interact with students.

Simultaneously, the Third Police Precinct focused on traffic guidance and safety maintenance around schools such as Xinyi Elementary School. Deputy Precinct Chief Cheng Yu-ming distributed police-branded safety whistles to students to encourage them to seek help from authorities or adults in emergencies. Both precincts emphasized the importance of cooperation between police, schools, and parents to ensure safe commutes during peak school hours.
