Taichung Public Library to host inaugural international forum on urban library futures

The Taichung Public Library will host its first international forum on October 29 and 30 at the Taichung Green Museum. The event, themed ‘Urban Library Proposals for the Future,’ aims to explore the evolving role of libraries within modern cities.

Experts, directors, and scholars from ten countries—including Canada, Australia, the United States, Norway, Denmark, and Germany—will gather to discuss how libraries can adapt to technological shifts. Key topics include the impact of AI and digital resources on reading trends, the architectural design of public library spaces, and the role of libraries as bridges for social inclusion and community dialogue.

The forum seeks to address how libraries can remain vital community hubs for learning and social interaction in an era of rapid digital transformation.
