Taichung Renai Club hosts 11th annual senior checkers competition

The Taichung Renai Club of The Fourway International held its 11th annual senior checkers competition, titled ‘Winning at Chess – Senior Leap,’ to encourage elderly residents to engage in social and mental activities.

Targeting seniors aged 65 and older in Taichung City and local community care centers, the event aims to promote brain health, hand-eye coordination, and social interaction. Organizers noted that as Taiwan enters a super-aged society, providing platforms for seniors to step out of their homes and connect with their communities is vital for their mental well-being and dignity.

Chang Kuo-cheng, President of the Fourway International Club of the Republic of China, and Yao Yung-chun, President of the Taichung Renai Club, emphasized the importance of creating spaces where the elderly can learn, enjoy themselves, and build friendships. The event was supported by the Taichung City Government Social Affairs Bureau and various community partners.
