Taichung Transit Center to begin operations on November 5

The Taichung Transit Center is scheduled to officially open on November 5, serving as a new transportation landmark for central Taiwan. According to the Taichung City Government Transportation Bureau, 27 bus routes, including national highway buses, highway buses, and Taiwan Tourist Shuttle lines, will begin operating at the center starting at midnight.

The integration aims to resolve long-standing issues regarding the scattered boarding and alighting locations for highway buses. Participating operators include Kuo-Kuang Motor Transport, Ubus, Taichung Bus, Nantou Bus, and Totoda Bus, among others. The routes connect Taichung to various regions including Keelung, New Taipei, Taoyuan, Hsinchu, Nantou, Yunlin, Chiayi, Tainan, Kaohsiung, and Pingtung.

In conjunction with the center opening, Bade Street in the East District will reopen to traffic. To optimize traffic flow, seven city bus routes will be rerouted from Nanjing Road to Bade Street. The Transportation Bureau stated that the center is designed to provide a one-stop transfer service, integrating urban buses with highway transport to reduce waiting and transfer times for commuters and travelers.
