Taiki Mizuno’s linguistics book surpasses 92,000 copies sold

Taiki Mizuno’s book, ‘The Linguistics of 0.2 Seconds of Conversation’ (Kaiwa no 0.2-byo o Gengogaku suru), has surpassed 92,000 copies in cumulative sales, including digital editions.

Mizuno, a speaker for the popular YouTube channel ‘Yuru Gengogaku Radio,’ explores the mechanics of turn-taking in human conversation, noting that the average gap between speakers is only 0.2 seconds. The work has received significant critical recognition, placing second in the ‘Kinokuniya Jinbun Award 2026: Top 30 Humanities Books Selected by Readers.’

Additionally, the book has been nominated for the ‘2026 Nonfiction Award Selected by Booksellers,’ a distinction awarded to works highly recommended by bookstore staff across Japan.
