Taiki Town and Virginia Spaceport Authority sign cooperation agreement

Taiki Town, Hokkaido, and SPACE COTAN Co., Ltd. have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Virginia Spaceport Authority, which operates the Mid-Atlantic Regional Spaceport (MARS) in the United States.

The partnership focuses on two primary pillars: educational promotion and regional development. The entities aim to collaborate on educational programs, including workshops, training, and exchange programs for students and educators to foster interest in STEM (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics) and aerospace.

Regarding regional development, the parties will explore grand designs for growth centered around their respective spaceports. This includes infrastructure development, human resource training, and tourism initiatives that leverage local culture, arts, sports, and industry. Both Taiki Town and the Wallops Island area in Virginia share similarities as coastal regions with primary industry bases that host spaceports.
