Tainan advances MRT Blue Line integrity platform and railway undergrounding
Tainan is advancing major transportation infrastructure projects, including the launch of an anti-corruption platform for its first MRT line and progress on the railway undergrounding project.
Mayor Huang Wei-che announced the activation of the “Tainan City Advanced Transportation System Phase I Blue Line Project Agency Procurement Integrity Platform.” This initiative involves cross-agency cooperation between judicial, audit, and engineering sectors to ensure transparency and mitigate risks during the procurement and implementation of the 32.731 billion TWD Blue Line project. The 8.55 km line will feature 10 elevated stations and a depot, connecting key urban areas.
Separately, the Railway Bureau reported that the first phase of the Tainan railway undergrounding project is ahead of schedule. With construction progress reaching approximately 85.7%, the first phase of underground track switching is expected to open as early as mid-October. The project aims to eliminate 23 railway-road intersections to improve urban mobility. The new underground Tainan Station will feature multi-language guidance systems and will coexist with the historic station, which is being restored by the city government.
