Tainan expands tourism through local travel fair and Malaysian market promotion

Tainan is actively expanding its tourism footprint through both domestic and international promotional events. From September 18 to 21, the city will host the ‘2026 Tainan Autumn Travel and Souvenir Fair’ at the Greater Tainan Exhibition Center. This event aims to capture the autumn and winter travel market by offering early bird deals on domestic and international itineraries, including trips to Japan, South Korea, and Europe, alongside a showcase of local gourmet souvenirs and a pet supplies expo.

On the international front, the Tainan City Government Tourism Bureau participated in the MATTA International Travel Fair in Kuala Lumpur and attended B2B promotion meetings in Johor to strengthen ties with the Malaysian market. To appeal to younger travelers, the city collaborated with popular Malaysian influencers Chang Yong and Jason PH to promote Tainan’s cultural heritage, food scene, and slow-paced lifestyle. These efforts follow significant growth in Malaysian arrivals to Taiwan, positioning Malaysia as a key target market under the New Southbound Policy.
