Tainan Mayor promotes tourism at Saitama Seibu Lions game

Tainan Mayor Huang Wei-che visited Japan on August 14 to host ‘Tainan Tourism Day’ at Belluna Dome, the home of the Saitama Seibu Lions professional baseball team. The event aimed to strengthen tourism ties and promote the cultural and culinary attractions of Tainan to the Japanese market.

During the pre-game ceremonies, Mayor Huang performed the ceremonial first pitch and distributed local specialties, including Tainan mangoes and dragon fruit. Lin An-ko, a professional baseball player from Tainan playing for the Seibu Lions, appeared at the event to help promote his hometown despite currently undergoing adjustments in the minor leagues due to a knee injury. Lin represented the club in accepting gifts of local fruit from the Mayor.

The promotion utilized various media, including digital advertisements at Ikebukuro Station and social media, with an expected reach of approximately 3 million people. The Tainan City Government intends to continue leveraging sports tourism and international partnerships to increase travel demand from Japan, which remains one of Tainan’s most significant overseas tourism markets.
