Tainan MRT Blue Line construction aims to start by year-end

The Tainan MRT Blue Line Phase 1 project has received approval from the Executive Yuan, with the city government aiming to begin construction by the end of this year. The 8.55-kilometer line will connect the Yongkang, East, and Rende districts, serving as a vital backbone for the city's future transit network.

Real estate activity along the proposed route is seeing increased attention. Data from the first seven months of the year shows that Yongkang District recorded the highest transaction volume with 1,952 residential units sold at an average price of 255,000 TWD per ping. The East District saw 1,011 transactions averaging 275,000 TWD per ping, while the Rende District recorded 868 transactions at an average of 266,000 TWD per ping.

Market analysts note that while the transit project is a long-term benefit, the impact on housing habits may take time to develop, as Tainan residents currently rely heavily on motorcycles and cars. The integration of the MRT with existing rail and bus systems is expected to eventually shift commuting patterns.
