Tainan police arrest man after random knife attack in Madou

A 65-year-old man was arrested in the Madou District of Tainan after a random stabbing attack near a school on the morning of September 13. The suspect, who appeared to be in an unstable mental state, used a fruit knife to attack passersby.

The incident resulted in five injuries, including two women and a 25-year-old police officer who was wounded during the struggle to subdue the suspect. Police reported that after verbal commands failed to stop the man, officers fired two shots, striking him in the abdomen and thigh to facilitate his arrest. All injured individuals were hospitalized and are reported to be in non-life-threatening condition.
