Taipei beauty trees enter peak autumn flowering season
Taipei's streetscapes are entering a vibrant flowering season as beauty trees (Caesalpinia pulcherrima) begin to bloom across the city. Locations such as Zhongyi Road, Yusheng Street, Wende No. 1 Green Space, and the Fulin Road median near the Shilin Official Residence are already seeing peak blooms. The beauty trees on the central median of Section 5 of Civic Boulevard are also beginning to flower and are expected to reach full bloom within approximately two weeks.
The Taipei City Government has been actively promoting urban greening. Between January and August of this year, 827 trees were planted, with plans to plant an additional 3,555 trees between now and next year to enhance the city's shade and environment.
As deciduous trees, beauty trees shed much of their foliage during the flowering period, allowing their pink to magenta blossoms to become the primary visual focus. These trees, native to South America, can reach heights of approximately 20 meters and are characterized by their upright stature and distinctive swollen trunk bases.
