Taipei City Hospital uses minimally invasive surgery for nasal congestion

Medical professionals at Taipei City Hospital Heping Fuyou Branch are utilizing endoscopic minimally invasive surgery to treat patients suffering from chronic nasal congestion caused by combined nasal septum deviation and inferior turbinate hypertrophy.

Dr. Xu Xinjian, Director of Otolaryngology, notes that while approximately 80% of adults have some degree of septal deviation, severe cases can lead to chronic congestion, heavy nasal sounds, snoring, and increased risks of sleep apnea. When combined with enlarged turbinates—often caused by allergies or chronic inflammation—the airway obstruction becomes significantly more severe.
