Taipei Civil Affairs Director Chen Yung-te sparks speculation with social media post

Taipei City Civil Affairs Director Chen Yung-te has drawn public attention following a late-night social media post regarding his political stance. In the post, Chen mentioned receiving a call from a friend asking, “Who does the Mayor support?” He noted that he did not provide an answer, stating that such information represents a person’s trust and the hard work of a team. He concluded by saying, “After the election, we are still one family.”

Following the post, Chen clarified to the media that he remains a firm supporter of Mayor Chiang Wan-an. He explained that his comments regarding “taking leave” were intended to signify his intention to focus entirely on election assistance during the final stages of the campaign.

Mayor Chiang Wan-an addressed the situation, stating that he and Chen maintain consistent communication and that there are no issues between them. Chiang clarified that Chen’s intention was to step aside to dedicate himself to campaign support.
