Taipei Mayor Chiang Wan-an meets Japanese LDP lawmaker Takagi Akira

Taipei Mayor Chiang Wan-an met with Takagi Akira, a Japanese Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) lawmaker and head of the party's diplomatic division, to discuss strengthening cooperation between Taipei and Japan.

Chiang proposed three primary areas for collaboration: technology and economy, disaster prevention and urban resilience, and youth exchange. Regarding economic security, Chiang highlighted the potential for synergy between Taiwan’s complete semiconductor supply chain and Japan’s strengths in materials and advanced manufacturing equipment.

Takagi emphasized the importance of urban exchange and expressed interest in expanding interactions between the LDP and the Kuomintang. The two parties also reached a consensus to promote student exchange programs between Tokyo Metropolitan University and Taipei City University to foster engagement among the younger generation.
