Chiang Wan-an pushes Songshan Airport relocation and addresses party rumors
Taipei Mayor Chiang Wan-an is actively promoting the relocation of Songshan Airport to facilitate the development of an AI industrial park. During a meeting with the Executive Yuan, Chiang emphasized that the project is a critical step for Taipei's long-term economic and technological growth. While some officials suggest the relocation process could take 20 years, Chiang stated he is focused on taking the first steps immediately to unlock the city's potential.
In a separate political development, Chiang and other Kuomintang members have addressed rumors regarding a petition to expel media personality Chang Shao-kang from the party following his interviews with a Democratic Progressive Party candidate. Chiang expressed his continued gratitude for Chang's support and called for party unity during the election period. Some party members have dismissed the reports of a petition as baseless rumors.
Meanwhile, economic discussions regarding AI infrastructure continue, with some officials suggesting that areas like Tamsui could serve as alternative sites for AI development to avoid the lengthy consensus-building required for the Songshan Airport relocation.
