Taipei Music Center celebrates classic film soundtracks with musical reinterpretations
The Taipei Music Center recently hosted a series of open-air film screenings and post-screening discussions, celebrating classic Taiwanese cinema soundtracks from films such as ‘Cape No. 7’, ‘Girlfriend, Boyfriend’, and ‘Rocking’.
Musicians participated in reinterpreting iconic tracks. Fan Yi-chen collaborated with singer Abuz to perform a new version of ‘Wu Le Bu Zuo’, incorporating indigenous languages. Wang Hui-zhu and Yun-an from Accusefive reinterpreted the song from ‘Girlfriend, Boyfriend’. Additionally, Luan Tan Ah-xiang worked with Fran to remake ‘Perfect Landing’, a process that involved sourcing a rare microphone valued at approximately 600,000 TWD to replicate a specific sound texture from a decade ago.
These musical reinterpretations will lead into the ‘Sing Our Songs: Golden Hits Reappearance Concert’, scheduled for November 21 at the Taipei Music Center Legacy TERA, featuring over 20 classic film songs.
