Taipei political debates intensify over polling accuracy and local issues

Political commentators in Taiwan are questioning the validity of a recent poll commissioned by the Xinmin Association, which suggests Shen Po-yang leads Taipei Mayor Chiang Wan-an by 17 percentage points. Critics, including media personality Wang Chien-chiu, have alleged the poll was designed to meet specific market needs, noting that the pollster's historical accuracy has ranked low in previous major elections. They argue the methodology used selective data to create a misleading narrative regarding Chiang's standing in traditional strongholds like the Da'an and Wenshan districts.

In a separate local development, Liu Pin-hsu, a candidate for the Da'an and Wenshan District Council, has outlined her policy priorities. Her platform focuses on improving urban transportation infrastructure, enhancing safety for students, and repurposing vacant school buildings into community recreation centers. Liu emphasized the need for better communication regarding construction projects, such as the Circular Line metro expansion, and advocated for more inclusive urban design to accommodate wheelchairs and strollers.
