Taipei prosecutors charge woman and 14 relatives in NT$20 million insurance fraud

The Taipei District Prosecutors Office has charged a woman identified as Li and 14 of her relatives for their involvement in a large-scale insurance fraud scheme. The group is accused of embezzling more than NT$20 million from 13 different insurance companies.

According to prosecutors, the scheme began in 2015 and involved sophisticated methods, including the forgery of medical records and the impersonation of patients. The investigation suggests the fraudulent activities have caused significant financial harm to insurance providers and undermined social trust and justice. Two minors involved in the case have been referred to youth court for trial.
