Taipei schools suspend certain seafood supplies following reports of illness
Taipei City authorities are addressing health concerns following reports of students and teachers experiencing diarrhea and vomiting after consuming squid during a school lunch at Jinhua Junior High School. While the Education Bureau stated that no mass food poisoning has been officially confirmed, the school has followed safety reporting procedures to monitor student health.
In response to recent supply instabilities caused by climate and origin issues, the Taipei City Government has issued a directive to temporarily suspend the supply of cephalopod and crustacean seafood in school lunches. To maintain meal quality and frequency, schools are permitted to substitute these items with equivalent proteins such as fish fillets, pork chops, or chicken legs after consulting with lunch supply committees.
