Taipei signs 3.887 billion TWD urban renewal deal for Nanjichang
Taipei City has officially signed a contract for the public-led urban renewal of the Nanjichang Unit 4 residential area. The project, overseen by the Taipei Urban Renewal Center and Du Mei Construction, involves a total investment of approximately 3.887 billion TWD.
The redevelopment follows structural damage sustained by the 60-year-old buildings during the April 2024 earthquake. The project aims to replace the aging structures with two 24-story steel-reinforced concrete buildings, featuring four basement levels. The new development is expected to include 285 general residential units and 17 “happiness housing” units, alongside commercial spaces on the first two floors.
Designed with modern safety and sustainability in mind, the new buildings will target Gold-grade green building and Silver-grade smart building certifications. The site is located near the future LG03 station of the Wandan MRT line. This successful signing follows a high resident participation rate of 92.82% in simulated selection processes, marking a significant milestone for public-led urban renewal in the city.
